I found the lump myself during a self breast exam. I had no history of breast cancer in my family. I was 38 years old.

Surgery Description, Dates & Side Effects:

Had a modified radical mastectomy to my left breast June 29th, 2007 with delayed reconstruction. Need to wait until after radiation.

Radiation Description, Dates & Side Effects:

Finished radiation Friday, September 21st, 2007! Skin is burned, sensitive, and very sore.

Chemotherapy Description, Dates & Side Effects:

I took the course of having chemotherapy prior to surgery. I will not really know the true stage of my cancer.

Hormone Therapy Description, Dates & Side Effects:

Tamoxifen – Hot flashes every 1/2 hour.

This photo was taken during my birthday dinner. My cousins and friends all came together for me. I had just lost all my hair – and found a scarf to tie into a big “braid” down the side. I did get a lot of compliments on the head wraps I wore.
